Mets 'Super Fans' Share Memories Of Shea Stadium Wedding

ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Shea Stadium may be long gone, but a couple of Mets super fans have one shining memento - their wedding picture.

Wedding bells rang for Joe and Angela Mingoia on June 10, 1984. And for a couple who loved the Mets as much as they do, they had one perfect choice when it came to where they where getting married -- Shea Stadium.

"My wife just happened to mention that her cousin works at the Diamond Club at Shea, I said you're kidding me," Joe Mingoia said. "I thought that was a dream come true, to get married at Shea Stadium."

On their big day, the couple walked through the dugout, and posed for pictures on the pitcher's mound.

The couple have been Mets fans through the team's best and worst years. The couple now has plenty of memorabilia like programs, autographed pictures and other keepsakes, CBS2's Valerie Castro reported.

Angela Mingoia even likes to keep her fingernails a manicured orange and blue -- the Mets' signature colors.

"He got me in to it really, years ago and then it just was contagious," Angela said of her husband. "Whether they won or lost, we just watched all the games, my kids are in to it, it just became a family thing."

The couple even has a piece of steel from the old Shea Stadium in their yard, collected when the building was torn down.

Now, the Mingoias are looking forward to making new happy memories at Citi Field when the Mets bring home the World Series Championship.
