Uber Makes Feline Fans Purr, Delivers Kittens To Offices For National Cat Day

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- People across the nation celebrated their favorite furry friends on National Cat Day -- with some offices even getting a visit from some very professional felines.

In honor of Thursday's holiday, Uber users in more than 50 participating cities could request a kitten delivery to their office for a purrfect 15-minute playtime session.

Uber charged a $30 'snuggle' fee for the request, which was made available on their mobile app. Users could request a kitten between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The kittens participating in the program were provided by local shelters and were available for adoption.

Participating kittens were given unique names and notable professions, including: Researcher Kitty Baxter, Purrsonal Assistant Tabby Katznelson, Nap Studies Lab Assistant Hunter Byrd and Community Advo-Cat Reggie Lyons.

People participating in the program were invited to share their experiences with the kittens using the hashtag #UberKittens.

According to a statement on Uber's website, the ride-sharing service has helped over 30 kittens find new owners.
