Mets Fans Ready For Game 3 At What Will Be Raucous Citi Field

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Mets fans are on edge as the team looks to mount a comeback after dropping the first two games of the World Series against the Kansas City Royals.

With the Mets down, but not out, fans are pumped and ready to help the team turn the series around.

"Just another challenge we have to meet, and so far we've met them all," said Mets Manager Terry Collins.

"I'm excited," said fan Matthew Trotta. "They're coming back, for sure."

"I'm pumped. I'm ready for Thor. We're gonna win Game 3, go back to KC and win the World Series. Let's go Mets!" Bilal Haider told CBS2's Andrea Grymes.

"I definitely believe," Kevin Mulvey added. "I definitely believe they can do it. Without a doubt."

"Win the games, come on! I'm too old, I can't wait another 30 years," another fan 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck.

The series shifts from Kauffman Stadium to Citi Field for Game 3 Friday night and playing in front of their own fans could not come soon enough for the Mets.

"We're not going to give up," Mets outfielder Michael Cuddyer said. "We're going to continue to battle."

Cuddyer said teams have been down 0-2 and have come back. He's confident they'll be able to do the same.

"We get to come home now where we've played well all year, in front of a fan base that is really excited," he said. "I think that's an understatement."

"You're back home. You're at Citi Field, the crowd's gonna be pumped and I think you can turn the series around tonight," Mets fan Ariel Morales said.

Hours before the game's start time, fans were already lining up to get in and some hopeful fans were waiting around after rumors swirled that some limited tickets might be sold at the box office before the start of the game, CBS2's Matt Kozar reported.

"My limit is $300 a piece. That's my limit, but I'm hoping to get $100," said Steven Rodriguez with a laugh.

Former Met Art Shamsky said home field is a big advantage.

"It's a best of seven series and you are coming back home, you got ramped-up fans who are really into the team this year and there's nothing to say that this team can't turn it around," he told WCBS 880's Mike Xirinachs. "A great philosopher once said, 'It's not over 'till it's over.'"

Even Mayor Bill de Blasio is urging Mets supporters to keep the faith, saying Thursday that fans should "take a chill pill'' and believe in their team.

He noted that the Mets rallied from a two-game deficit when they won their last championship in 1986. The Yankees overcame the same hole in 1996.

De Blasio said he plans to attend the game at Citi Field on Friday.

The Game 3 starting pitchers will be Yordano Ventura for the Royals against the Mets' Noah Syndergaard.
