Court Upholds Suspension As Penalty For Bound Brook Teacher's Computer Misuse

BOUND BROOK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- An appellate court in New Jersey upheld the suspension imposed on a high school math teacher, who used a school laptop to send nude photos of himself online and share offensive emails.

Bound Brook school officials initially sought to fire Glenn Ciripompa, citing his improper computer use and his alleged inappropriate conduct toward four female staff members.

But an arbitrator instead ruled that he should be suspended without pay for 120 days.

A judge later vacated the arbitrator's ruling and ordered a new hearing for the tenured teacher.

But Ciripompa appealed that ruling.

The appellate court found the district proved that Ciripompa improperly used the district-provided laptop and an iPad. But the judges said the district didn't prove its inappropriate conduct claims.

Ciripompa has worked in the district since 2004.
