Reward Offered In Death Of 83-Year-Old Lois Colley In North Salem

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A reward is being offered in connection with the murder of the matriarch of a prominent New York family.

Lois Colley, 83, was found dead inside her sprawling hilltop estate known as Windswept Farm on Titicus Road in North Salem on Monday.

A caretaker at the 300-acre manor found Colley's body in the laundry room. State Police said Colley died of blunt force trauma and that a missing fire extinguisher could be the murder weapon.

There were no signs that anyone had forced their way into the home.

Investigators don't know the whereabouts of Colley's husband, Eugene, known for his empire of roughly 100 McDonald's restaurants, but authorities don't believe he is a suspect in her death, state police Lt. Paul DeQuatro said.

New York State Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Colley's death.

Anyone with information is asked to call the New York State Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-866-313- tips (8477) or go to the NYS Crime Stoppers website.
