NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — It’s Latin flavor with a twist of grace.

Ballet Hispanico will take the stage at the Apollo Theater next weekend.

This year, the group has an extra reason to dance as well: It is celebrating its 45th annivesary.

Artistic Director Eduardo Vilaro and dancers Melissa Fernandez and Lyvan Verdecia stopped by the CBS2 studios to talk about the celebration. Fernandez and Verdecia also performed.

“Ballet Hispanico is a fusion,” Vilaro said. “It’s a fusion of ballet, contemporary dance and the Latin essences and flavors that we have in our cultures. So when you come to a Ballet Hispanico presentation, expect the unexpected.”
