N.J. Sheriff Under Investigation After Anti-Muslim Facebook Rant

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A Husdon County sheriff's officer is being investigated for anti-Muslim comments he posted online.

Officer Alex Pino's Facebook post is laden with hateful and inflammatory language -- including a comment about tearing down all mosques, WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported.

He's also quoted as writing "get out of my country," in reference to Muslims.

"I'm sure he knows how to talk and this was not the right way to do it," Ahmed Shedeed, president of the Islamic Center of Jersey City, said.

"It's not his country, it's everybody's country," Shedeed added.

Shedeed said he feels this is completely inappropriate, especially for a law enforcement officer because he is representative of the sheriff's office.

Shedeed is demanding an apology, fearing repercussions.

"The public people will hear that and maybe there's backlash on the Muslim community," Shedeed said.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Pino has been placed on administrative leave with pay and his gun has been taken away.
