Lincoln Center Celebrates 'Winter's Eve' With Tree Lighting

NEW YORK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Lincoln Center got into the holiday spirit tonight, celebrating the season with a tree lighting at their 16th annual "Winter's Eve" festival.

The tree lighting was a bit delayed by a testy generator, but everything worked out smoothly in the end, WCBS 880's Marla Diamond reported.

"Oh, it's gorgeous -- beautiful," said Bill Domes of Domes Tree Farm. Domes brought the 30-foot Concolor Fir Christmas tree from his farm in Bliss, a Western New York town near Buffalo. 

This year, the festival celebrated a "Peace on Earth" theme, with the tree decorated in festive multi-colored lights and shining ornaments.

The tree is about 40 feet shorter than the famous Christmas tree at Rockefeller center.

"We can't compete, there are limits on the size of our tree," said Monica Blum, president of the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District.
