PATH Service Resumes After Suspicious Package Causes Closure Of Journal Square Station

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- PATH trains are running again after a delay caused by a suspicious package.

The package was found on a train shortly after noon on Tuesday, forcing police to close the Journal Square PATH Station in Jersey City.

Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo told The Jersey Journal that Port Authority police and the Jersey City Bomb Squad responded to the scene.

PATH service was temporarily suspended on the Newark to World Trade Center and Journal Square to 33rd Street lines. Service continued on the Hoboken to World Trade Center and Hoboken to 33rd Street lines.

NJ TRANSIT was cross honoring PATH customers at Newark Penn Station, Hoboken and New York Penn Station.
