NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — “We can end gun violence.”
That was the message when celebrities like Long Island native Amy Schumer, Jennifer Aniston, Spike Lee and Sofia Vergara teamed up with violence prevention group Everytown For Gun Safety in a new social media campaign aimed to spread gun safety awareness and advocate for reform.READ MORE: NYPD: Jose Ramos, 56, Killed In Cypress Hills Hit-And-Run
The video places celebrities among men, women, children, family members of shooting victims and shooting survivors — all repeating the same slogan in a montage:

Everytown For Gun Safety is asking the public to submit their own personal videos through their website, to be added to the piece.
This isn’t the first time Schumer has been involved in campaigning for gun legislation.

The initiative was prompted by an earlier shooting at a movie theater in Lafayette, Louisiana, while Amy Schumer’s movie “Trainwreck” was playing.
