Police: Man Robbed Midtown Duane Reade Store In Broad Daylight

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Thursday were searching for a suspect who robbed a Midtown Duane Reade drugstore at gunpoint in broad daylight.

Around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, the suspect walked into the Duane Reade at 525 Seventh Ave., or Fashion Avenue, and approached an employee from behind the register, police said.

The suspect took out a black gun and demanded cash, police said.

The employee complied and handed over money, and the suspect ran off north on Seventh Avenue with about $577, police said.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect was described as a black male, last seen wearing a black sweater under a gray jacket and a blue hat, wearing eyeglasses and carrying a red bag.

Police have released surveillance photos.
