Ex-'Real Housewives' Star To Be Released From Connecticut Prison

TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Teresa Giudice, one of New Jersey's "Real Housewives," is set to be freed from prison just a few days before Christmas.

A lawyer for Giudice told The Record she will be released Wednesday from the Danbury Federal Correctional Institution in Connecticut.

Guidice and her husband Joe, were accused of exaggerating their income while applying for loans before their hit Bravo show debuted in 2009, then hiding their improving fortunes in a bankruptcy filing after their first season aired. They admitted hiding assets from bankruptcy creditors and submitting phony loan applications to get some $5 million in mortgages and construction loans.

The Montville couple pleaded guilty to fraud charges in October 2014.  Teresa Giudice was sentenced in federal court in Newark to 15 months in prison on conspiracy and bankruptcy charges while her husband, Giuseppe "Joe" Giudice, was sentenced to 41 months.

They were also ordered to pay $414,000 in restitution — $10,000 of it immediately.

The ex-reality star reported to prison in Danbury in January 2015 and it was announced her sentenced would be reduced by 54 days shortly after her sentence began.

After Giudice's release, she will head home to her husband, Joe, and four daughters in Montville, where she will be on home confinement until Feb. 5.
