QuickChek Executive Works Christmas Morning Shift In Mount Arlington

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A top executive at a New Jersey convenience store chain is working this Christmas Day -- serving coffee.

"I've always believed if I'm going to ask you to do it, I should do it first," said Michael Murphy, senior vice president at QuickChek.

Murphy has been doing this for 40 years, WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported.

"Some felt we should close, but unfortunately for us it's a day that's a high command day for my customers," he said.

And the morning crowd is crazy.

"People are in their pajamas. Coming in the store, they got their slippers on. It looks like they were up all night putting stuff together," Murphy said.

This year, Murphy is in his son's store in Mount Arlington.
