Police: Strip Club Hit By Molotov Cocktail Day After Knicks Player Shot

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Queens strip club where New York Knicks forward Cleanthony Early was before getting shot in an apparent holdup was hit by a Molotov cocktail early Thursday morning.

Police said the suspect or suspects threw the Molotov cocktail at the CityScapes Gentleman's Club on 58th Street in Maspeth at around 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

Early was attacked after leaving CityScapes at around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday. A group of men stole his gold chains and gold caps on his teeth, before shooting the basketball player in the knee, investigators said.

Police investigating the latest incident told WCBS 880's Mike Xirinachs they have no reason to believe the incidents are connected.

One club-goer said the crimes occurred too close together to just be coincidental.

"It's probably payback," he said. "Two incidents, and it's only been 24 hours?"

Damage from the arson attack is minimal, with the club suffering mostly from smoke damage on the outside of the location, Xirinachs reported.

Police said no one was injured in the attack.

The investigation is ongoing.
