Brooklyn Teens Face Charges In Vicious Midwood Robbery

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Two Brooklyn teens were under arrest in a vicious attack and robbery that was caught on camera in Midwood.

The teens were in handcuffs and taken out of the 66th Precinct on Thursday night, following a Crime Stoppers tip.

Investigators have identified them as Eldin Sabovic, 17, and Baskim Huseinovic, 19.

Both have been charged with robbery and assault stemming from the beating of a 60-year-old man in Midwood.

"The first thing I said is, 'they have a mother, I want to give her a hug,'" the victim's wife told CBS2's Ilana Gold over the phone.

Surveillance cameras captured the alleged crime around 1 a.m. on Monday, on Avenue M by East 8th Street as the victim walked home from the train station.

One of the suspects threw him to the ground, punched him, and rummaged through his pockets, before a second suspect joined in.

"What he's feeling is like a lot of pain. He can't see with his eyes," his wife said.

The arrests were a relief for the victim's family and the entire community.

"Thrilled, very very happy. Can sleep a little better at night," assemblyman Dov Hikind said.

So many residents have been shaken up all week, worried that they could be the next target.

"I feel like we are not secure anymore. We have to be vigilant," Nahid Kohanghadosh said.

They want the accused perpetrators held accountable.

"What kind of hatred exists in a person's heart, a 17 and a 19-year-old to be so vicious, so malicious," Hikind said.

Police said the suspects were seen getting out of a dark colored car moments before the attack. They said it's possible the pair had a getaway driver, but that is still under investigation.

The suspects were expected to face a judge on Friday night.
