NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police were searching Thursday for a man who robbed two people at gunpoint in the lobby of a building in the West Village.

The robbery happened around 3:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, in a building at Waverly Place and Christopher Street, police said.

The victims, two men ages 29 and 30, were approached by the suspect who demanded money while pointing a silver handgun, police said.

The suspect took about $400 from the younger of the two men before running off, police said. No injuries were reported.

The suspect was described as a black male about 40 years old, standing about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds, with a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a black shirt under a black jacket, blue jeans, black sneakers and a black winter hat, police said.

Police released surveillance video of the robbery in progress, with the suspect pointing the gun and confronting the victims.
