Brentwood Home Catches Fire After Woman Burns Husband's Clothes In Yard

BRENTWOOD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island woman is accused of arson after she set her husband's clothes on fire and the fire spread to the rest of their house.

As WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported, in a jealous rage, Maria Ramirez-Martinez allegedly took her husband's clothing outside and set all of it on fire.

The fire then spread, causing damage to their home in Brentwood.

The woman's husband told Hall their 10-month-old son was inside the home at the time.

"She brought the stuff outside, I think it was too close to the house and then she didn't think it would reach the house, the siding. I think it's an accident," he said, adding that he forgives her.

The husband said it was all over messages that another woman sent to his wife.

"Another girl sent her a message that I was talking to her," he said.

But he claims he never cheated on his wife.

No one was injured in the incident.
