PATERSON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — A teenage boy has been arrested in the knockout video recording of an elderly man in Paterson in December.

The man was punched in the face while he was getting ready to cross Rosa Parks Boulevard from Van Houten Street on Dec. 7.

The entire incident was caught on video and posted to Facebook.

A young man walks up to a shorter man standing at a crosswalk as someone out of view says, “Go hit him! Go hit him!”

“I’ll knock him over, just knock him over,” the young man is heard saying.

“Knock him out, knock him out,” someone says out of view.

The young man then sucker punches the other man in the face, sending him falling to the ground as someone out of view laughs.

The Paterson Police Department said in a press release the 16-year-old who recorded the incident turned himself in without incident. He has been charged with aggravated assault and endangering an injured victim.

A 17-year-old suspect who punched the elderly man has not yet been arrested as police continue searching for him. He will also be charged with aggravated assault and endangering an injured victim.

“This shameless act of violence was thoroughly investigated and the tireless efforts by the detectives involved is commendable,” Paterson Police Director Jerry Speziale said. “The juvenile at large will continue to be sought with the same tenacity and will face swift and decisive justice for this senseless act of violence.”
