Storm Causing Tidal Flooding Along Jersey Shore

TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A storm moving up the coast caused tidal flooding in some New Jersey shore towns.

As CBS2's Elise Finch reported, much of the flooding was in areas that are still recovering from Superstorm Sandy.

High tide arrived Monday morning and police had to close some streets in Atlantic City, Absecon, Neptune Township and Union Beach.

Neptune Township police posted photos on Twitter showing flooded roads in the area of South Concourse and the East End bridge.

In Hoboken, parts of the train terminal were also flooded, CBS2's Christine Sloan reported. NJ TRANSIT had to close the doors to the ferry because of high tide and some tracks were also under water Monday morning.

Forecasters have issued a coastal flood warning for the entire New Jersey shore. Widespread moderate coastal flooding is possible during high tide. There's also a chance for beach erosion as wave heights build to 8 to 12 feet.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch from Monday night through Tuesday evening for Burlington, Cumberland, Atlantic, Cape May counties. Forecasters say there is the potential for 4 to 8 inches of snow.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for other parts of the state.
