NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- An Arkansas tourist was knocked out at the Staten Island Ferry terminal in Lower Manhattan after refusing to buy tickets to the Statue of Liberty.

Police said the 33-year-old man was punched in the face on Monday. The tourist said a woman tried to sell him ferry tickets. He refused and was hit by a man who then fled the scene.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center for treatment, CBS2 reported.

Authorities said the victim was knocked unconscious and suffered a fractured skull.

Mayor Bill de Blasio said police are "very aggressively" investigating.
