Fairfield Cop Reassigned After Domestic Violence Call Leads To Fatal Shooting
FAIRFIELD, Conn. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Connecticut police officer has been reassigned in connection to a police-involved shooting currently under investigation, officials said.
Christopher Andrews, 51, was shot to death Tuesday by police officer Sean Fenton after a confrontation in the driveway of a home at 22 Mountain Laurel Road, police said.
Police were called to his home at about 6 a.m.
Inside, police found the man's wife and her three children, ages 12, 13 and 15, with numerous blunt-force trauma injuries and stab wounds.
All four were transported to hospitals. The wife was listed in critical condition at Bridgeport Hospital.
Fenton also was taken to a hospital for observation.
Fairfield Police officials said in a statement Wednesday that Fenton has been reassigned due to department policy as they work with other local agencies to investigate the incident.
The circumstances of what may have led up to the attack remained under investigation.
