Restaurant Worker Slashed In Face In Greenwich Village

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A restaurant worker was slashed in the face Wednesday night in Greenwich Village, police said.

Around 8 p.m., the worker was slashed at Silver Spurs Restaurant, at 490 LaGuardia Pl. just north of Houston Street, police said. It was not clear whether the slashing happened inside or outside the restaurant.

The man was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The slashing was being investigated as an assault, and there had been no arrests as of late Wednesday, police said.

Police said they were searching for homeless man or panhandler, who is believed to be the suspect, CBS2 reported.

Numerous slashing attacks have made headlines in the city in recent weeks – many of them random.

Just Tuesday morning, a livery cab driver was slashed in the face after a quarrel with a passenger in Washington Heights. His injury required 60 stitches from his ear along his jawline to his chin.
