Kelly Clarkson's Emotional 'American Idol' Performance Will Definitely Make You Cry

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Get ready to break out the tissues.

Season 1 "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson returned to the stage that made her a star and brought everyone to tears with an emotional performance of her song, "Piece By Piece."

The song chronicles Clarkson's rocky relationship with her father and also acts as a tribute to her husband, Brandon Blackstock.

The 33-year-old got choked up during the performance and later apologized to the audience, explaining she's "super pregnant and hormonal."

"You had us all in tears," host Ryan Seacrest told Clarkson. "The emotion that you exude always, but especially in that important song, it's just incredible."

"I'm pregnant and it's nostalgic," Clarkson said, adding that she wrote the song when she was pregnant with her daughter. "I'm really sorry I just bawled, I'm actually quite proud that I made it that far."

The singer also broke down performing the same song at a concert in Los Angeles last August, when she spontaneously announced she was pregnant with her second child.

Clarkson and Blackstock tied the knot back in 2013 and welcomed daughter River Rose in June 2014.

Clarkson won the first season of "American Idol" in 2002.

The show is now in its final season.
