NYPD: Man Arrested After Waving Box Cutter In Subway Station
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was arrested after allegedly waving a box cutter around at a subway station in Brooklyn Wednesday night.
Norden Cummings, 30, of Queens, was allegedly walking around the northbound platform of the Hoyt Street subway station at around 7:30 p.m., waving a box cutter in a threatening manner, police said.
According to police, Cummings was ordered to drop the weapon and he was arrested.
Cummings faces charges of menacing, criminal possession of a weapon, disorderly conduct and harassment, according to police.
The incident came just hours after Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner Bill Bratton announced a new initiative to curb violence on the subways by increasing police presence.
