NYPD Begins Weeklong Truancy Crackdown On Staten Island
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Here's a message to students thinking about playing hooky for the big St. Patrick's Day parade on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan this week: think again.
The NYPD is cracking down on students skipping school on Staten Island.
Police started conducting truancy sweeps across the borough Monday, and will continue all week. They'll be especially vigilant on Thursday.
Students caught out of school will be brought to a tracking center at Port Richmond High School.
Their parents and school would then be notified.
