Anonymous Declares 'Total War' Against Donald Trump

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Anonymous has declared "total war" against Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump.

In a video posted on YouTube, the hacktivist group called on "freedom fighters" throughout the world to launch cyberattacks against Trump.

"This is a call to protect our future, our freedom and our very way of life. This is a call to you. We need you to shut down his websites. Research and expose what he doesn't want the public to know. We need you to dismantle his campaign and sabotage his brand," a person in a Guy Fawkes mask said in the video.

Dubbing it "Operation Trump," Anonymous said they are deeply disturbed at what the billionaire has been saying throughout his campaign.

"Your inconsistent and hateful campaign has not only shocked the United State of America, you have shocked the entire planet with your appalling actions and ideas," the group said. "You say what your current audience wants to hear, but in reality you don't stand for anything, except for your personal greed and power."

The video concluded, "This is not a warning. This is a declaration of total war. 'Operation Trump' engaged. Donald Trump, it is too late to expect us."

The group is calling on hackers to target TrumpChicago.com on April 1. They also claimed they hacked Trump's voicemail earlier this month and leaked messages.

CNet reports the hackers took down New York's Trump Tower website in December.
