Interview: Macy's Flower Show Celebrates America

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It may not feel like it, but spring is here, which means flowers will soon be in bloom. But you don't have to wait for it to warm up to smell the roses.

The annual Macy's Flower Show opens Sunday.

Mike Gansmoe, executive producer of the show, stopped by the CBS2 studios to talk about this year's event, which runs through April 3.

"Our theme is 'America the Beautiful,' and we're very excited about that. A lot of times our past themes have been around the world, not necessarily in our country. So we're excited to show the landscapes of America, from the Northeast to the Southwest, everywhere in between," Gansmoe told CBS2's Andrea Grymes.

1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria spoke to one woman who came from Albany, Georgia, for the flower show.

"Refreshing, invigorating and beautiful, just like the season we just entered," Abigail Meadows said. "It's time for beauty to spring forth."
