Authorities: NJ Man Took $200K From Woman In Online Dating Scam

WAYNE, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A New Jersey man has been arrested after allegedly taking more than $200,000 dollars from a woman he met on a online dating website.

Haissam Fostok, 45, of Wayne, withdrew the money from a 401k account belonging to Tracy Morris, 48, who he had established a relationship with after meeting online, prosecutors said.

Over several weeks after connecting, Fostok met Morris' kids and took her out, CBS2 reported in an earlier story. He later began asking her for money and guaranteed a 6 percent return.

Morris began by giving Fostok $20,000, but eventually handed over the full $200,000 from her account, CBS2 reported.

After 60 days Fostok wasn't paying up. Morris started incurring penalties on her funds and broke the relationship off. Morris then filed a lawsuit, and in discovery found out about his double life.

"Twelve days after I handed him a check for $200,000 he rented a house for his wife and four children," Morris said in an earlier interview.

Fostok also used Morris' credit card for personal expenses after telling her the purchases were business related, according to prosecutors.

Fostok faces charges of theft by deception and theft by failure to make required disposition, according to authorities.

If convicted, Fostock could face up to 10 years in prison.
