With $17-Million In Winnings Between 3 Siblings, Davis Family Is A Racing Dynasty

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- You could call it a horse racing dynasty. One family packs a very big punch inside the sport.

As CBS2's Steve Overmyer explained, picking winners at the track is hard enough, almost as hard as trying to figure out which one of the Davis siblings is riding.

The story of the family's love affair with horse racing began with a father who raced at the highest level.

"They say racing runs through the veins. It's all in our blood," Jackie Davis said.

The Davis family has built a strong bond that typifies the passion of horse racing.

"This is my dream job What better way then you have your family with you," Jackie said.

The track lives and breathes family.

"It's a big family tradition, to be riding with my sisters is phenomenal," Dylan Davis said.

Jackie, Dylan, and Katie are all children of retired jockey Robbie Davis.

Dylan starts his day watching replays to prepare a game plan.

"Make sure he's got a clear run on the outside and doesn't get dirt in his face," he said.

It's a strategy that he's worked to near perfection, finishing second in a recent race.

His sister Jackie is more accomplished. She went to school for fashion, but changed her mind even though her father disagreed.

"I was 19-years-old, I said, 'now's the time." she said, "I was the daughter, he said, 'absolutely not."

Jackie recently achieved a milestone with career with number 500.

"I beat you on the same horse, same surface, no handicap, no ladies tee, nothing, and you gotta deal with the fact that you got beat by a girl," she said.

Robbie has since said he was mistaken about Jackie, and the numbers back it up.

Between the three of them the Davis siblings have more than $17-million in race earnings.
