New York Dealer Robbed Of $1 Million In Jewelry Outside Pittsburgh
MONROEVILLE, Pa. (CBSNewYork/CBS Pittsburgh) -- A New York jewelry dealer was robbed of $1 million in items in suburban Pittsburgh last week, and police Monday night were searching for four assailants.
The robbery happened Friday night in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, CBS' KDKA-TV, Pittsburgh reported. Video surveillance from outside the Udipi Café on Old William Penn Highway in Monroeville caught the images of the suspects accused of stealing the estimated $1 million worth of jewelry, KDKA reported.
Investigators said the four people caught on the video are accused of assaulting the passenger in the van, and then running to a waiting car with several pieces of luggage, which contained the jewelry.

Minutes later, the victim who was assaulted in the van ran into the restaurant screaming for help, KDKA reported. The two victims were treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
Witnesses said the jewelry salesman comes to the Pittsburgh area from the Diamond District in Midtown Manhattan every year, and was selling jewelry at the Doubletree Hotel in Monroeville, KDKA reported.
Authorities said they believe the thieves may have followed the salesman from New York, waiting for a chance to steal the merchandise, KDKA reported.
