Fans Dress Up As Katy Perry's Sharks, Unicorns For John Oliver's Premium Seats At Yankees Game

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- John Oliver's fans are at it again at Yankee Stadium.

During Wednesday night's game against the Houston Astros, two women dressed up as unicorns and another two dressed up as Katy Perry's sharks from her Super Bowl halftime appearance.

"Two riff raff fans in unicorn outfits, 2 dressed as sharks, in 2nd row of Lonn Trost's 'premium seats' to 3B side of yday's," New York Daily News sportswriter Peter Botte tweeted.

Two of those women who scored the tickets from the show is Hannah Lee of New York and her Michelle Munera. She tweeted a picture of her and her friend wearing the unicorn outfits while sitting behind home plate.

"We found out this morning and it's been awesome," Lee told the New York Daily News. "Crowd is loving us."

The Daily News identified the sharks as Ashley Lewis and Jennifer Sedgley.

During Tuesday's home opener, two guys dressed up as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Oliver ripped the Yankees on HBO's "Last Week Tonight" over the organization's ticketing policy, using an interview Yankees COO Lonn Trost gave to WFAN's Boomer & Carton in February where he said some fans believe lower-income people should stay in lower-priced seats.

"The problem below market at a certain point is that if you buy a ticket in a very premium location and pay a substantial amount of money," Trost said. "It's not that we don't want that fan to sell it, but that fan is sitting there having paid a substantial amount of money for a ticket and (another) fan picks it up for a buck-and-a-half and sits there, and it's frustrating to the purchaser of the full amount."

"And quite frankly, the fan may be someone who has never sat in a premium location. So that's a frustration to our existing fan base."

Oliver purchased premium tickets for the first three Yankees games for the season and held a contest giving them away for 25 cents that fans dress like they have never sat in a premium location before.
