NYPD: Man Hit 16 Businesses, Stole $13,000 In Robbery Spree

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The search is on for a man wanted in a series of robberies across the city.

According to police, a suspect identified as August Watkins hit 16 businesses, including gas stations, several Subway restaurants, a Dunkin' Donuts and a Rite Aid -- among other locations --  in a robbery spree between March 26 and April 5.

In each incident, the suspect would simulate having a firearm and take cash from the register before leaving the location, according to police.

The robberies occurred in Brooklyn and Queens. According to police, the suspect has stolen around $13,171 in cash and around $91 in cigarettes.

The suspect is described as approximately 30 years old, standing around 6 feet tall and weighing around 215 pounds, according to police. He was last seen in the wearing gray jogging pants and a black 3/4 length jacket, police said.

The NYPD has released an image of the suspect, which can be viewed above. The police are asking anyone with information about the incidents to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
