Police: One Dead In Fire At Multi-Family Home In Bay Shore

BAY SHORE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island man was killed in a fire that broke out at a home in Bay Shore late Thursday night.

Curley Tutt, 62, was killed while in his basement apartment at 17 Grant Avenue when a fire broke out in the multi-family home at around 10:21 p.m., officials said.

Several other adults and children living in the home escaped the fire, which police believe originated in the basement, according to officials.

Police do not believe the fire was criminal in nature, based on preliminary investigations.

The investigation is ongoing.
