Adoptapalooza Celebrates ASPCA's 150th Anniversary

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- New York's Kindest turned out in droves to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the ASPCA at Adoptapalooza, the twice yearly mega pet adoption event presented by the Mayor's Alliance for New York City's Animals and the Petco Foundation.

More than 300 cats, dogs and rabbits were available from over 30 rescue organizations which offered fee-waived adoptions thanks to Animal Planet which sponsored the event.  To mark the ASPCA's big 1-5-OH, the adoption party also featured the NYC Paws Parade which marched from Madison Square Park to Union Square Park led by members of the NYPD Mounted Unit.

Adoptapalooza, which also had a corresponding event at House of Vans in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, brought out a number of celebrity supporters, including actresses and animal advocates Bernadette Peters and Edie Falco.
