NYPD: Suspect Punches Woman In Face Following Dispute On 7 Train

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD is searching for a suspect who allegedly punched a woman in the face following a dispute on the 7 train in Queens.

According to police, the female suspect punched the 48-year-old victim in the face after a dispute with another person while on the 7 train traveling towards 46th Street on Friday afternoon.

Police said the suspect accused the victim of staring at her while she was in a dispute with the other person.

After punching the victim, the suspect grabbed the victim's phone and threw it onto the subway platform after the victim attempted to call 911, police said. The suspect then fled on foot from the 46th Street train station.

The victim sustained swelling and bruising to the face, but refused medical attention, police said.

The NYPD released a photo of the suspect, which can be viewed above.

The investigation is ongoing.
