Reports: Giants Eyeing Free Agent Cornerback Leon Hall

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- The Giants spent big money on a cornerback in free agency and then added another in the first round of last week's NFL draft. But they might not be done revamping their secondary quite yet.

Veteran cornerback Leon Hall visited the team Tuesday, according to multiple reports. Hall, 31, who specializes as a slot defender, spent the past nine seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he started 105 of 121 games and intercepted 26 passes.

Giants general manager Jerry Reese admitted after he drafted Ohio State's Eli Apple in the first round Thursday that he was nervous about the team's depth at cornerback.

"If you only have two corners, you're one corner short in this league," Reese told WFAN's Mike Francesa on Monday.

Including Apple, the Giants now have three cornerbacks they hope they can heavily lean on. The team signed former Ram Janoris Jenkins to a five-year, $62.5 million contract in March to start opposite Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie.

But their depth behind those three is thin. The other cornerbacks on the roster include Trevin Wade, Tramain Jacobs and Leon McFadden.

Last season, the Giants averaged allowing a league-worst 298.9 passing yards per game.

The biggest concern about Hall is his health. He is reportedly recovering from offseason back surgery to repair a disc injury that required epidurals in the final games of last season, and he's torn both of his Achilles tendons during his career.
