Officials: Retired NYPD Officer Facing Child Pornography Charges On LI

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A retired New York City police officer from Long Island is facing charges after allegedly being found with child pornography in his possession.

Investigators from the Nassau County District Attorney's office traced several child pornography images posted by an individual back to the home of Frank Castro, 47, a former NYPD officer who now works as a security contractor.

Castro was arrested after a raid of his East Meadow home on Tuesday, where evidence of child pornography was found, officials said.

Castro was charged with two counts of promoting a sexual performance and two counts of possessing a sexual performance of a child, officials said. He was also required to give up his pistol license.

Castro faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.

Castro is expected back in court on May 6.
