WATCH: NYPD Officers Bust A Move In 'Running Man' Dance-Off Challenge

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Officers from the New York Police Department are shaking their booties in response to a challenge to participate in a trending social media dance-off.

The agency posted a video on its Facebook page showing some uniformed officers dancing with a group of students from P.S./I.S. 323 along the waterfront in Brooklyn.

Alongside the video, it says #RunningManChallenge accepted, NZ Police Recruitment!'' The video has received around 3.8 million views since the NYPD posted it on their Facebook page.

The Running Man Challenge has swept the Internet as a viral phenomenon. The challenge asks others to top their dance routine with their own and then post it online.

New Zealand Police Recruitment was first to challenge the NYPD, along with the FDNY, as well as its counterparts in Boston and Scotland and other law enforcement organizations in Australia and Tasmania. The group posted a video of their own to its Facebook page earlier this week, showing off their dance moves.

The short footage ends with one officer ending his energetic dance by pretending to talk into his hand radio and then jokingly dropping it.
