VIDEO: Long Island Lacrosse Player Makes Amazing, Game-Winning 70-Yard Goal

ROSLYN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island lacrosse player made an amazing, game-winning shot that was caught on camera.

The Roslyn Bulldogs were tied at 6 against the Glen Cove Big Red with only seconds left to play when senior Jordan Hurwitz made the incredible shot, CBS2's Elise Finch reported.

"I just had to get it out of my zone and luckily enough it just sailed right over the goalie's head and went right in," Hurwitz said.

His teammates said they were stunned.

"I had no words. I was speechless," goalie Ryan Golub said.

"I was just so ecstatic when it went in. Great for Roslyn," senior Blake Weinstein said.

Unlike the "Hail Mary" pass in football or the "buzzer-beater" in basketball, last minute long-shots rarely happen in lacrosse, so this 70-yard goal is considered extraordinary.

"There are very few Hail Marys in lacrosse. It really doesn't happen ever," Warren Hurwitz, the player's father, said. "Nobody I know has ever seen anything like this."

"I'm just happy to pull through for my teammates. Honestly, we all work hard and luckily enough I was able to come through," Jordan Hurwitz said.

Lacrosse is gaining popularity on Long Island and across the state with boys and girls, and amazing game moments only boost its appeal.

"We have a feeder program now. More kids are playing, more excitement being generated certainly from this. This will certainly help out a little bit," head coach Jesse Sorensen said.

The Roslyn Bulldogs have one more regular season game, but thanks to this incredible goal, they're in a good position to make the playoffs for the first time in five years.
