McCarty, Wright-Phillips Lead Red Bulls Past NYCFC, 7-0

NEW YORK (AP)--  Bradley Wright-Phillips and Dax McCarty each scored twice and the New York Red Bulls routed New York City FC 7-0 on Saturday to tie the MLS record for largest margin of victory.

McCarty put away a header into the top-right corner, off a corner from Sacha Kjelstan, in the third minute, and Wright-Phillips added two goals _ the second coming on a bicycle kick in stoppage time _ as the Red Bulls (4-7-1) took a 3-0 lead into halftime.

Wright-Phillps, who was scoreless in his first seven matches this season, has five goals in his last six.

McCarty made it 4-0 in the 51st minute and substitutes Alex Muyl, Gonzalo Veron and Gideon Baah added goals.

It was the first career goal for Muyl, a 20-yearl old rookie and Manhattan native.

The Red Bulls improved to 4-0 against NYCFC (4-4-5), which had its five-game unbeaten streak snapped.

It was the first multi-goal game of McCarty's career.
