Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens,

Lasting a season with one pair of mittens,

Amazon boxes with each doorbell ring:

These are a few of my favorite things.

Naptime and bedtime and no babies screaming,

School time and oh! wine and children's shows streaming,

Playdates that last 'til the sun's near setting:

These are a few of my favorite things!

Toddlers who listen and say please and thank you,

Potty trips ending not in tears but poo poo,

Pregnancy pillows and couches and . . . things:

La la la la la la faaaaavorite things.

When the kid yells, when the car smells,

When I'm feeling furious mad sad resigned exhausted mad sad,

I simply remember my favorite things,

And then I don't feel so bad!

Again:

Crosswords and coffee and meals eaten hotly,

Trash television and new shoes I bought me,

The fact that ice hockey lasts well beyond Spring—

Wait, that isn't one of my favorite things.

Toys in their places with no pieces missing,

Those rare times my daughter does not yell, "NO KISSING!"

Blah blah and blah ALL THE AIR CONDISH'NING:

That's pretty much my most favorite thing.

That thing when your child discovers a new song,

And then you must listen to it all the day long,

Maria, please shut your Von Trapp no more singing!

Doo doo doo dee dee dee favorite thingings!

When the kid yells, when the car smells,

When I'm feeling furious mad sad resigned exhausted mad sad,

I simply remember my favorite things,

And then I don't feel so bad!
