Woman Killed, Another Injured After Car Strikes Tree Off Garden State Parkway

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- New Jersey state police say a woman was killed and another was seriously injured when their sport utility vehicle ran off the Garden State Parkway and struck a tree.

But it's not yet clear what caused the accident, which occurred around 1:40 a.m. Saturday in a northbound lane near milemarker 94.4 in Wall Township.

State police say Gudelia Espinosa-Reyes, a 45-year-old Passaic resident who was a passenger in the SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The SUV's driver, 46-year-old Passaic resident Mariano Cabrera Rosagel, suffered undisclosed injuries and was taken to a hospital. But further details on her condition were not disclosed.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities say it does not appear that any other vehicles were involved in the crash.
