Knicks' Arron Afflalo, Derrick Williams To Become Free Agents

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A person with knowledge of the details says New York's Arron Afflalo and Derrick Williams have opted to become free agents.

Both players declined their options for the second year of their contracts and will be free agents on July 1, the person told The Associated Press on Tuesday on condition of anonymity because no announcements were made.

Afflalo and Williams signed two-year deals with the Knicks last summer. Afflalo would have made $8 million next season, while Williams was scheduled to make a little over $5 million.

The former No. 2 overall pick, Williams averaged 9.3 points, mostly as a reserve. Afflalo averaged 12.8 points, but lost his starting guard spot to Sasha Vujacic late in the season.

A recent report said the Knicks have discussed trading for Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose.
