Police: Man Raped Woman At Knifepoint In Gorman Park In Washington Heights

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Thursday were seeking a suspect who put a knife to a woman's throat and raped her in a Washington Heights park.

Around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, the suspect came up to the 42-year-old woman as she walked through Gorman Park, at 190th Street and Broadway, police said.

The man forced the woman off the concrete path and pushed her to the ground, police said. He then put a knife to her throat and raped her, police said.

The suspect was described as a dark-skinned man about 35 years old, standing about 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing about 260 pounds, with a beard.

Police released a sketch late Thursday.
