NYPD Says It Is 'Following Events In Turkey Closely'
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - The NYPD is monitoring the situation in Turkey and says it will adjust how police are deployed as necessary.
At least 10 people were killed and 20 wounded when two attackers opened fire in Istanbul's Ataturk Airport and then blew themselves up, officials said.
Turkish Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag said that according to preliminary information, "a terrorist at the international terminal entrance first opened fire with a Kalashnikov and then blew himself up."
Another official said two attackers detonated explosives at the entrance of the international terminal after police fired at them.
Meanwhile, the Federal Aviation Administration said that any flight landing in the U.S. from Turkey will be placed in a secure area and inspected, as per standard operating procedure.
