Police Warn UES Residents That Fourth Of July Burglar Could Strike Again This Year

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)--  A man has managed to get by doormen and locks to get thousands of dollars in pricey jewelry from apartments on the Upper East Side for the the last two July fourths.

Now police are warning residents to be vigilant because he may be back again, 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria reported. He hit an apartment on East 82nd Street in 2014 and three apartments on East 86th Street last year.

The older man was caught on surveillance in one of the incidents.

Some residents say despite having a doorman they are going to be extra cautious and make sure those doors are locked.

"You still have to watch and be careful. You don't need to give anyone any excuse to get into your place, that's for sure," one resident said.
