Trump: Saddam Hussein Was Good At Killing Terrorists

RALEIGH, N.C. (CBSNewYork) -- Donald Trump praised the way former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein handled terrorists.

During a campaign rally in Raleigh, North Carolina, Tuesday, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee said Hussein was good at killing terrorists.

"Saddam Hussein was a bad guy, right? He was a bad guy, a really bad guy. You know what he did well? He killed terrorists. He did that so good. They didn't read them the rights, they didn't talk, they were a terrorist, it was over," Trump stated.

He continued, "Today, Iraq is Harvard for terrorism. You wanna be a terrorist, you go to Iraq."

Trump made similar comments about Hussein during a press conference in February.

House Speaker Paul Ryan seemed to distance himself from Trump's comments during an interview on Fox News.

"He was one of the 20th century's most evil people," Ryan told Fox News. "He was up there. He committed mass genocide against his own people using chemical weapons."

Trump has previously said Iraq and Libya would be better off if Hussein and Moammar Gadhafi were still in power.

Following last month's Istanbul terror attack, Trump reiterated his call for the return of waterboarding terror suspects.
