The widows donated the money to a fund started by the Stephen Siller Tunnel To Towers Foundation, the same organization that stepped up to raise $1.2 million for financial support for Liu and Ramos’ families after the officers were killed on Dec. 20, 2014.

“My prayers are with all the officers and everyone affected by the loss of the five officers and the injured officers of Dallas,” Maritza Ramos, wife of Officer Ramos, said.

Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani also donated $10,000 to the fund.

“We don’t all put our lives at risk to save other people,” Giuliani said. “They do.”

The foundation hopes to raise $5 million for the victims in Dallas, 1010 WINS’ Roger Stern reported. The money will be used for the housing needs of the victims’ families.

Police said Micah Xavier Johnson, 25, of Mesquite, Texas, opened fire on officers in Dallas during a protest against police violence on Thursday night. Dallas Police Chief David Brown reported that Johnson said he was upset over recent police shootings of black men and wanted to kill white people.
