Police: Stranger Pushes 69-Year-Old Man Down Subway Stairs In Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- Police are looking for a man who they say pushed a 69-year-old man down the stairs of a Long Island City, Queens subway station.

The suspect was inside the 36 Street M/R subway stop station when he approached the man and pushed him down a set of stairs at around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, police said. Officials said no words were exchanged between the two men prior to the assault.

The suspect fled the station onto the street following the incident.  The 69-year-old man suffered a fractured knee and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a black man between the ages of 25 and 30, 6 feet tall, heavy-set, and bald. He was last seen wearing a grey t-shirt and black pants.
