NJ Woman Playing Pokemon Go In Cemetery Gets Stuck In Tree

CLARKSBORO, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Authorities say a New Jersey woman trying to catch Pokemon in a cemetery ended up stuck in a tree and had to call 911 to rescue her.

Firefighters in Clarksboro say the woman climbed a tree Tuesday night while playing "Pokemon Go'' on her smartphone inside the Eglington Cemetery.

She called 911, and the East Greenwich Township Fire and Rescue arrived to get her down with a ladder.

Officials say the woman was "a bit embarrassed" by the incident. Fire officials didn't release her name to spare her additional embarrassment.

In a Facebook post, the fire department warned "Pokemon Go'' players to watch where they're going so no one gets hurt.

"For all those out there playing Pokemon Go, take heed of all of the warnings and be careful not to put yourself into bad situations," the department wrote on their Facebook page. "Think about what you are doing and where you are going before you actually do it."

This is one of several safety-related incidents since the widely popular phone app debuted earlier this month.

On Monday, a driver in Baltimore swiped a police cruiser as they were playing the app while behind the wheel. There have also been reports of the app sending players to dangerous locations, where they have been subject to robbery.

Players have reported wiping out in a variety of ways as they wander the real world, eyes glued to their smartphone screens, in search of digital monsters. Twisted ankles, mishaps with revolving doors and walking into trees have been among the painful results. The game has also induced people to post pictures of themselves on social media chasing creatures in all sorts of dangerous situations, like while driving.
